We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to support one of our pharmaceutical clients and work specifically within one of our FSP teams.
Responsibilities
Identify and build practical, high-quality solutions through the application of visualisation analytical,machine learning and artificial intelligence techniquesDocument, initiate and perform appropriate validation and/or QC for a projectIdentify, access and utilise the appropriate data to support a question such as clinical data, observational data, healthcare dataDevelop cross-filtering, drill-downs, faceting, bookmarking, state restore, and user-level preferences.Add new features and modules end-to-end: scope requirements, prototype, iterate with users, and productionise.Help design and build a large, modular Shiny application that visualizes TLFs (tables, listings, figures) from SDTM/clinical datasets.Run CI/CD on Github.Deploy/operate on Posit Connect (or Shiny Server Pro): access controls, scaling, monitoring.Error tracking, unit tests, UI tests, integration/performance checks.Implement export workflows (e.g., CSV/XLSX, PNG/PDF, RTF) with reproducible, versioned outputs.Add new features and modules end-to-end: scope requirements, prototype, iterate with users, and productionize.Collaborate with other functions as requiredProduce and validate complex outputsIdentify areas where new processes are requiredEssential:2–5+ years of experience building production-grade Shiny applications in R.Strong R programming fundamentals (tidyverse or data.table), Shiny modules/reactivity, and data visualization using ggplot2 or plotly.Experience with Git, code review, and automated testing.Hands-on deployment experience with Posit Connect (or equivalent platforms).Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.Preferred:Knowledge of clinical programming standards (e.g., CDISC, SDTM, controlled terminology, and awareness of ADaM/TFLs).Experience with Python for data engineering or validation (pandas, reticulate interoperability).Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
Qualifications
Educated to PhD/Masters or Bachelor’s degree in statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics,mathematics, computer science or a related disciplineExperience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industryFamiliarity with GCP and regulatory requirementsR Shiny experience required
