Our client, a leading organization in the technology and data solutions sector, is seeking a Senior Confluent Kafka Lead / Python Developer to join their dynamic team. As a Senior Confluent Kafka Lead / Python Developer, you will be part of the Data Engineering Department supporting cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, innovative thinking, and collaborative spirit, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title:Senior Confluent Kafka Lead / Python Developer
Location:Columbus, OH or Nashville, TN (both locations would be for on-site work)
Pay Range: $60 - $65 hourly W2.
What's the Job?
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise Kafka and Confluent Platform solutions (Kafka, Schema Registry, Connect, ksqlDB).
- Develop Python-based Kafka producers and consumers, building scalable streaming applications.
- Design event-driven integration patterns bridging microservices, data stores, APIs, and third-party systems.
- Implement Kafka security controls including TLS encryption, SASL/OAuth authentication, and ACL-based authorization.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning, and implement monitoring and alerting systems.
What's Needed?
- 6–10+ years of experience in software or data engineering, with at least 4 years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform.
- Strong proficiency in Python for backend and streaming development, with experience building production-grade services.
- Experience deploying Kafka and applications in cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of Kafka internals, schema evolution, and Kafka Connect architectures.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
